According to police the grenade failed to explode and was discovered by security personnel, who called the police. An explosives expert then detonated the grenade and their were no injuries. Germany has seen a sharp rise in the number of incidents of violence, including arson and beatings, against refugee shelters and refugees, following the arrival of 1.1 million newcomers in Germany in 2015.
