Quarantine made fun

Drive-In Cinemas To Visit

Culture

A pick of the best Drive-In Cinemas, featuring excellent food and drink as well as some good movies as well. All watched from the comfort of your car.

Rooftop Film Club at Alexandra Palace

Brilliant venue for this series by the excellent Rooftop Film Club crew, which is particularly alluring with the presence of Popdogs delivered contact-free to your car. Check out this one: ‘Jamaican Me Horny: smoked Seitan sausage served with home-made slaw, mama’s jerk BBQ sauce & mango.’ Yes, please, send over sixteen. Our film pick: The Big Lebowski on 16th July.

Drive & Dine Theatre

With food from a menu by Tom Kerridge, and special comedy nights – Mark Watson’s Carpool Comedy Club – as well as film screenings, this looks like the business. Venues include St Albans, Chichester and South London, and pick of the screenings for us would be Jaws at Selhurst Park on 29 July; similar scenes play out every Saturday afternoon there of course.

Secret Cinema: The Drive In

Legends of the immersive experience, Secret Cinema have now taken over Goodwood for evenings featuring great movies, Haagen-Dazs ice cream and them being them, plenty of actors getting you involved in the experience with a bit of song and dance. We’d get down there for The Empire Strikes Back (9/30/31 Aug).

The Luna Drive In Cinema

Nationwide locations including Warwick Castle and Knebworth House make this a pretty special series to be part of. The food’s just old school boxes of sweets and crisps, but a bit of Drive at Harewood House in Leeds on 11 Aug will do us nicely.

Sunset Cinema

Huge space in West London for this one with burger by Dirty Bones and they have a particularly good selection of films. Wolf of Wall Street on 25th July – bring your own martinis for that one (we think that’s allowed. Maybe check).
