CALM, the male suicide prevention charity have collaborated with under-25s charity The Mix to produce a new support zine called #GramFam, which comes out this week in time for A-Level Results.
Our friends at CALM, the male suicide prevention charity, have teamed up with The Mix, a crisis support service for under-25s to launch an Instazine – or an ‘Instagram’ ‘magazine’ for those of us born in the 70s – called #GramFam. Launched today to coincide with A-Level results week, the zine includes videos and personal stories from a range of celebs including Reggie Yates, James McVey from The Vamps, and Dr Alex from Love Island talking about coping with stress.
Simon Gunning, CEO of CALM says, “We’re delighted to be collaborating with The Mix on #GramFam. We know that there are many pressures on students and young people so we hope that, with the help of some familiar Instagram faces, we can create a positive experience that entertains while also offering support to those who may be facing tough moments such as exams and results stress.”
Both charities are encouraging young people to support each other and share their own experiences as part of #GramFam. Chris Martin, CEO of The Mix says, “We want to bring together students, influencers and experts to create a positive community that works together to promote good mental health, whatever a young person is facing.”
This marks another positive step in using social media to encourage young people to open up and find support in times of need. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK, and it is vital mental health support starts at a young age to ensure that in the long term, people are receiving the help required to bring those stats down.
