Gifts for men: Grooming gifts
Shopping
Spare us the Insignia Splash-on and Jesus-On-A-Rope. We actually wouldn't mind some decent grooming products - here's some ideas for us and all the men in your life...
Acqua Di Parma, Colonia Pura Gift Set (£95)
We all wish we were Italian. However, British men just don’t suit white vests; it’s a problem of pastiness. However, it is possible to get a little closer with Acqua Di Palma specially designed Colonia Pura Gift Set. It contains Eau de Cologne, Hair and Shower Gel and a handy miniature for your wash bag. Perfect to bring some sophistication to your Dad, or indeed, yourself.
Tom Ford, Noir After Shave Balm, £38
There’s after shave balm that you get for Christmas from your mum’s neighbours, and there’s after shave balm someone (who probably wants to/enjoys sleeping with you) gets you. This is the latter. Fragrance wise, that fashionable bergamot is ever present here along with the iris, black pepper and violet that make up the famous Tom Ford ‘Noir’ scent.
Lab Series, Daily Moisture Defence Lotion (£45)
That beautiful man skin needs care and attention too, and this moisturiser also boasts an SPF15 too so protection from and environmental nasties is a bonus.
Jack Black Face Buff Energizing Scrub (£16.50)
Not the funny Jack Black, but the master groomer. This JB makes products targeted for male skin types and this is one of our favourites from the range. A capable exfoliator that preps and soothes the skin ready for shaving (or not).
Triumph & Disaster Ritual Face Cleanser (£18)
You know the drill – cleanse, tone and moisturise people! This cleanser is ideal for sensitive skin, with oils including Tamanu (packed with antibacterial properties) and peppermint for stimulating the skin. A real treat.
Clinique for Men, Anti-age Eye Cream (£27.50)
Gone are the days when men had to apply skin products behind locked doors. This eye cream is specifically targeted for the gentle skin around the eyes to hydrate, help minimise puffiness and dark circles. Winner of the CEW Beauty Insider’s Awards 2010 for Best Men’s Hero – it’s a guaranteed winner.
Possibly ones of the finest inventions of all time, the post poo drops turn a nasty situation into a frolic in a meadow. Well, depending on how bad the situation is, the ‘botanical bathroom deodoriser’ will certainly go someway to neutralising nasty niffs with a blast of citrus and florals. We can confirm it shits all over those nasty cheap ones your granny used to have in the loo.
Everyone is crazy for L:A Bruket right now – it’s the product to have next to your Aesop Post Poo drops. This beard oil will clean, soften and soothe the bristly of beards and leave it smelling fresh as.
Aromatherapy Associates, Refinery Shave Oil (£31)
These guys have cornered the oil/skincare market and with every reason – the high quality of the products and delightful results make it money well spent. Add a few drops in your palms and massage into the face before shaving.
Commodity, Bergamot Eau de Parfum (£120)
We are helpless in the face of a clean design and a strong font and while Commodity certainly has those (bye everything else on the bathroom shelf) this perfume boasts some incredible elements from bergamot (like Earl Grey tea) and citrus. This fragrance has summer written all over its pretty little face.
Byredo, Tree House Room Spray, £85
Byredo was inspired by a trip to India by Ben Gorham who feel in love with the spicy scents and aromas, all of which can be felt in his quickly growing range. There are so many to choose from (which make them *****star gifts) but we are particularly enamoured with this woody room spray. Teenage boys – this is coming your way for starters.
Ren, Atlantic Kelp & Magnesium Salt Anti-Fatigue Exfoliation Body Scrub, £28
Women everywhere suffer at the red hands of thieving partners, and this is exactly the kind of product they go after. Do menfolk a favour and buy them their own men’s grooming products starting with a pot of this magical scrub. Salt and kelp clear the skin and the magnesium soaks into the skin encourage your body to relax. Like we said…magic.
MALIN + GOETZ, Dark Rum Candle, (£42)
Candles are essentially a unisex offering but as they tend to lean towards the more floral, citrus flavours going for a candle that would be welcome aboard The Black Pearl is a solid move.
Kiehl’s, Facial Fuel Energising Face Wash (£19.50)
Can you buy a fella a face wash? The answer is YES. Tell them to slap those handsome chops into shape with this face wash in the mornings and they won’t even need a coffee.
The classic scent for men from CK is always a strong gift idea and with Jake Gyllenhaal as the new face of the brand you’ll be doing yourself a favour alining yourself with such a dude.
Altr For Men, Whiskey Moisturiser, £7.99
Whiskey infused grooming products? Yes please. And it’s not just the good stuff, this excellent value moisturiser is packed with essential oils and vitamins.
